In an address on September 9, 2021, American President Joe Biden announced that the United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) would develop an emergency rule requiring all employers with at least 100 employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require unvaccinated employees to produce a negative test at least once a week. Employers will be required to offer paid time off for vaccination. In addition, Biden announced an executive order that would require most federal workers and federal contractors to be vaccinated or regularly tested. The OSHA rule has not yet come into effect, and is likely to be challenged in court.
